These days, fenugreek has been touted as a great testosterone booster. To be honest, fenugreek as testosterone-boosting supplement is controversial. While many researchers believe that this herb can do very little or nothing on raising testosterone levels, the proponents insist that this herb can offer many beneficial effects, ranging from stimulating immune system to increasing lean muscle mass.
First of all, let’s get to know some background about this amazing herb. In fact, fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is more commonly known as a spice of curry powders, pickles and pastes rather than as an herb with numerous medicinal properties in India. First, in 2010 a study published in the Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism has shown that 500mg fenugreek capsules daily for eight weeks could help the participants to increase total testosterone and bioavailable testosterone levels. Second, in 2010 a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that fenugreek treatment could help a group of adult males to maintain natural healthy levels of this steroid hormone. Third, in 2011 a study published in Phytotherapy Research found that a supplement containing this spice could boost libido for men although the testosterone improvement was not significant.
In a word, so far there’s a debate about whether fenugreek boosts testosterone levels or not. In other words, this herb’s effectiveness is still inconclusive. But anyway, it’s likely a worthwhile home remedy for other health problems, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and heartburn, because these health benefits have been confirmed by some preliminary research.
Besides of testosterone shots, of course you can use some natural ways to give it a boost too. For example, being a popular testosterone-boosting supplement fenugreek is worth a try especially when you are one of its proponents.
